HOW TO APPLY

Teachers On Reserve recruits and hires substitute teachers based on the current needs of our client schools. To apply, please follow the steps below.

Steps to become a "Teacher On Reserve"
  • Meet all qualifications below.
  • First, you MUST currently reside in California. If you are planning to move to CA soon, please wait until you have arrived.
  • Complete and submit your online application. We cannot consider you for employment until we receive a completed application.
  • Please wait for our recruiting department to contact you. If our client schools require your expertise, please rest assured that we will contact you.
  • Keep us informed of any important updates to your application.
If you are contacted and scheduled for an interview, be prepared to bring the following documents with you:
  • Proof of Identification (Usually, a Driver's License and Social Security OR Passport)
  • Original copies of two teaching Letters of Reference
  • Official copies of College Transcripts, indicating proof of degree and coursework completed
  • Original copies of any credentials or teaching permits
  • Proof of TB Clearance within the last 12 months
If you are hired to work at Teachers On Reserve, you will be required to complete the following before you are eligible to work:
  • Participate in the FBI and California Department of Justice Live Scan process. You will be responsible for processing fees.
  • Attend a TOR Teacher Orientation.
  • Sign a Department of Justice Employment Eligibility Verification form and provide acceptable identification documents.
  • Sign a Teachers On Reserve Employment Agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO BECOME A "TEACHER ON RESERVE"

Teachers On Reserve strives to recruit only the very best. We carefully screen all applicants who meet our strict qualifications. To be considered for employment, applicants must meet or exceed the following minimum qualifications:

PRESCHOOLS: Required Child Development / E.C.E. units

ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS: Bachelor's Degree

ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS REQUIRING A CREDENTIAL: Bachelor's Degree, California Teaching Credential

SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOOLS: Bachelor's Degree, California Teaching Credential, experience working with Special Education students
